Summary:
We seek a highly motivated and experienced Foreign Curator to join our dynamic children's publishing house. The Foreign Curator will play a crucial role in selecting and evaluating foreign children's stories for publication, ensuring their suitability for our target audience. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of children's literature, strong editorial skills, and excellent communication and coordination abilities.
Responsibilities:
Story Selection and Evaluation:
- Research and identify potential foreign children's stories for acquisition.
- Evaluate submitted manuscripts and proposals, assessing their literary merit, originality, and suitability for our target audience.
Editorial Guidance:
- Collaborate with authors, translators, and copy editors to ensure the accuracy and cultural appropriateness of texts.
- Suggest textual modifications to ensure the story resonates with young readers.
- Maintain high editorial standards and ensure the quality of published works.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Liaise with internal departments (translation, Arabic language, design, production) to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute to the development of publishing strategies.
- Coordinate with the editorial team to ensure timely project completion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Literature, Education, or a related field.
- Proven experience in children's book publishing or a related field.
- Excellent knowledge of children's literature.
- Strong editorial skills, including the ability to evaluate manuscripts, provide constructive feedback, and ensure high-quality writing.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Passion for children's books and a commitment to fostering a love of reading in young audiences.
